And thank God everything went on fine! My Chiara enjoyed her first day at my Clinic, and I was "thrilled" to work with my dentist daughter. It is not easy to be a "Boss and Papa" at the same time. And that too when "Papa" has a chronic reputation of being a tough, no nonsense Boss. I had to get myself 'mentally prepared' for this day, and work hard at "re-training" myself... to transform into a milder kind of a Boss to my daughter Chiara. In the process, I have ended in becoming a much kinder, tolerant and more understanding Boss to all my staff at the Clinic. They have surely noticed the change, and are delighted at my "professional reincarnation"!
I am sure Chiara too must have gone through a hell lot of 'mental preparation' ... she took nearly 15 days to formally start working on my patients. During those days, she did 'nothing' but just watching how everybody works at our Clinic. Being an ISO 9001: 2000 Certified Dental Clinic, we have a few compulsions. We have to follow certain norms and procedures as per international standardization. And I am glad that Chiara was self-motivated to learn these things before working on my patients.
It is not possible to judge Chiara's dental skills at this stage. And knowing fully well that "dental skills" are not hereditary, I do not want to presume more than I should. She will have to prove her worth... her capabilities, as well as her abilities in Dentistry. It is a profession where the work 'speaks for itself' and nobody can change that fact for anything!
Having said that, I feel 'very relieved' that Chiara did a very good job of whatever work that was assigned to her this morning. And I am certainly delighted and is in a mood for 'celebration'. We plan to go out for a small family dinner this evening. We will surely miss Kitty (my younger daughter Crystal, who is 18 years old today, but cannot be with us). I hope she has a good time with her friends in Belgaum.
I take this opportunity to thank all my friends, relatives and well wishers who went out of their way to express their love and affection for Chiara and Crystal. We were literally "flooded" with emails, SMSs and phone calls this morning.
It will not be possible for me to thank each one of you individually, I shall make a sincere attempt to remember you in my prayers. May God bless you all!
